Scenes from the 1st LTO XI Road Safety Fun Run on July 22, 2018. Almost 2,000 runners participated in the early morning run along Quimpo Boulevard and McArthur Highway with distances ranging from 10K, 5K, and 3K. Winners for the 10K and 5K runs were awarded medals and special finishers certificates. The mood was upbeat as the timer signaled the start of each race. This despite the light rains which showered the city the night before. Government offices such as the Department of Agriculture, DOLE, CSC, DOE, LTFRB, among others took a stand for road safety as they sent participants to the run. Toyota Davao, insurance companies, hospitals, clinics and other private establishments also manifested support to the advocacy by coming early joining the run. Schools and universities such as the Ateneo de Davao University and Mindanao Medical Foundation College were represented by students, faculty members and administrators who were all energetic right from the Zumba warmup exercises down to the exciting finish. Several runners complimented the volunteers for the organized flow of the race. Part of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Tabang Pa-Eskwela sa Tribo of the NCIP XI and of course to fund the plans and programs of the Road Safety Advocacy of the LTO Region XI.
